Philadelphia Chapter-NBPCWelcome to our website. NBPC is committed to Jesus Christ and work to ensure that the witness of Presbyterians of African descent is healthy, growing, dynamic and empowering; that racial justice is integral in the church's self-understanding and lived out in every aspect of ministry within the Presbyterian Church.
We welcome you to join our chapter as a member, affiliated member or a mission partner. You are also invited to attend our monthly meetings. We meet on the first Tuesday of the month and alternate Noon and evening (6:30 pm) meeting times. Meeting begin with a light lunch or dinner and are held at Oxford and Cedar Park Presby Church. Chapter co-sponsored with the Philadelphia Presbytery a Black History Month Celebration program in February and a Christmas gathering in December. The Chapter meetings consist of training seminars, workshops; guest presenters; and information sharing across the churches and patterning with presbytery. Our goal is to develop collaborative efforts among our churches and ministries, grow our membership and work closer together. Meeting Schedule Meetings are held the 1st Tuesday each month via conference call and some in person meetings. Members, Visitors & Guest are all welcome to attend! Remembering a pioneer and legend Rev. Dr. Katie Geneva Cannon, 1950—2018 Presbyterian Mission Agency has created a scholarship to honor the name and legacy of the late Rev. Dr. Katie Geneva Cannon, supports Presbyterian clergywomen and college women of color and other Presbyterian women of color with opportunities for leadership and spiritual development as well as mission opportunities in the PC(U.S.A.). Up to $1,500 will be awarded to qualifying applicants for expenses for a leadership development event. Applications may be found online at www.pcusa.org/katiecannonscholarship.
